For a footwear brand like CLAE, the majority of its designs thus far have existed within the often vague realm of “casual footwear.” A sphere within which they have existed quite well. And while the Los Angeles-based brand has certainly created a name for itself by experimenting beyond its initial silhouette offerings over the years, one of the latest models to extend its brand territory has been the running silhouette, Mills. Recognizing the functional similarities of the model with its own ethos, newcomer brand AXS Folk Technology aligns a collaborative footwear offering with CLAE for Spring/Summer 2014.
The pair arrives in a rough hairy suede upper that plays a main role on the toe box and tongue, while tonal leather and suede hits are seen along the side panels and rear heel. One of the most notable design elements is the hand-dyed indigo panels that are seen along the puffed ankle section and upper toe box. A cork midsole, dark navy laces and tan metal eyelets finish off the subdued color palette. Look for these to hit select CLAE stockists as spring/summer of next year nears.
