Launching in November of 2003, Totokaelo began as a Seattle-based women’s clothier that aimed to offer “beautifully designed and thoughtfully curated” items from high-end designer houses and independent boutique brands around the world. Almost a decade later, the American brand has naturally progressed into the lucrative realm of menswear opening Totokaelo Man alongside its flagship shop in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Located in the basement of the preexisting women’s shop, the 4,500-sq-ft space provides an awesomely conducive space for shopping that allows patrons to hone in on their own creative styling. Wood beams and fluorescent lighting travel overhead as a glossy white concrete floor acts as a canvas for the sparsely placed furniture and fine garbs. Along with offerings from brands like A.P.C., Rick Owens, Maison Martin Margiela, Levi’s Vintage and much more, the interior also features handmade alpaca wool rugs, chairs from Garza Furniture, and a large-scale ceramic wall mural by the Californian sculptor Stan Bitters.
