This Gold-Plated Leica from 1931 Sold for $683,000

A rare ‘Luxus’ Leica camera recently fetched $683,000 at an auction in Vienna. Made in 1931, the gold-plated camera was covered with lizard leather and came with two lenses.  The former owner of the antique was none other than German sparkling wine maker Karl Henkell who was no doubt surprised when his camera brought in more than three and a half times the expected price.
