From ‘Motor City’ to ‘Rock City,’ Detroit, Michigan has been known as a lot of things. Lately though, the once-great American metropolis has been something along the lines of a ‘forgotten’ city. As jobs have quickly vanished and homes vacated, there seems an oppressive quiet about Detroit – an abandonment that, outside of the city’s confines, few probably take time to acknowledge. There have been movements though and the city has not fallen. The remaining of Detroit’s proud citizens have proven this in their latest, perhaps greatest effort: X Games Detroit. The entirety of the city seems to have organized behind Kevin Krease (director of the City Bid), as #XG2D strengthens in both number and purpose: to bring a global event to Detroit for three years, facilitating growth and development. The above promotional video aptly summarizes the necessity of the X Games through the city’s existing vitality. After you enjoy the video, find out more about the movement on the X Games Detroit’s Facebook page.
