Nigel Cabourn has been honing his craft since the ’70s, but it was only in recent years that the authenticity-obsessed designer has found wider recognition on North American shores. His latest project, a capsule collection with Converse, should help put him squarely on the map. The Nigel Cabourn for Converse First String footwear collection includes renditions of the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey and the all-new Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty Plimsole, drawing from the rich American heritage of boots and sneakers created for the outdoors and the military. The Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey features wind- and water-resistant Ventile fabric uppers in military-inspired navy and olive green, while the Chuck Taylor All Star Specialty Plimsole fuses a 1941 British P.E. training shoe with vintage Converse elements — ultra-high grade Italian denim, canvas linings and utilitarian garment detailing. Browse the lookbook above and look for the collection’s launch by Nigel Cabourn at End Hunting Co. in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on April 11, 2013.
