After parting ways with French luxury brand Mugler, latest news confirms that Nicola Formichetti will be appointed Diesel‘s first ever artistic director. The visionary stylist and fashion editor will be overlooking the product, marketing, and communication divisions of both Diesel and its Black & Gold line. Although Formichetti’s first product designs aren’t due till Fall/Winter 2014, he’ll be launching an advertising campaign in September.
“I want him to do bigger things, different things. This is the right man to take the next step for a young company and a brand for people who are young of mind,” said Diesel chief Renzo Rosso. “I finally met somebody as crazy as I am. I have replaced myself and can go on vacation.” It’ll be interesting to see what the Italian brand delivers next, now that they’ve appointed a new leader behind its creative driving force. Stay tuned.
