The 2012 MLB season saw Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera lead the American League with 44 home runs, 139 RBIs, and a .330 batting average, thus becoming MLB’s first Triple Crown winner since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. In celebration of the feat, Detroit’s own Burn Rubber has teamed up with New Balance to create a commemorative edition of the 574. Aptly dubbed “The Miggy,” the special release sees the silhouette with an upper of grey mesh, navy suede and orange accents as a nod to Cabrera’s team’s colors. Further distinguishing the release, the kicks sport three crowns on the exterior of the woven tongue label while Cabrera’s statistics appear on the inside. Finally, a camouflage footbed of orange, navy and white completes the package. Constructed here in the United States, the Burn Rubber x New Balance 574 “The Miggy” is set to be limited to just 44 pairs – a reflection of last season’s home run total – and will be available from Burn Rubber beginning April 8 for $150 USD.
