In 2009, the Purple Rain icon played two stunning back-to-back shows which mixed classic rhythms with jazz rarities, which was later released as a download. With a recent comeback via a slew of online releases which nod at his 1980s blue funk craftsmanship, and the formation of his new all-female band, it’ll be interesting to see what Prince delivers at the renowned jazz gala, taking place July 5-20, 2013.
