Berthold 2013 Fall/Winter Collection

“What I do is not about completely reinventing menswear,” London-based designer Raimund Berthold says of his collections, the first of which was a five-piece offering of lightweight outerwear in 2009. Focusing instead on evolving design and fit, Berthold’s clothing is often defined by a utilitarian sense of color and undefined silhouettes, as well as the interplay between synthetic fabrics and raw materials. For Fall/Winter 2013, the Austrian-born Berthold presents a collection of pieces in black, navy, and charcoal that bring drape and volume to the forefront, designs that push the envelope of traditional menswear silhouettes without becoming unrecognizable. Included among them this season are generously cut trousers paired with precisely-tailored, asymmetrical outerwear and slouchy knits, while the use of color blocking and abstract prints impart the tonal collection with doses of graphic flair.
