BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS 2013 Spring/Summer Lookbook
Jazz musician Chet Baker and the West Coast styles of the ’50s and ’60s all served as reference
Jazz musician Chet Baker and the West Coast styles of the ’50s and ’60s all served as reference points for Masafumi Watanabe’s Americana obsessions this season. BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS‘ “Almost Blue” collection derives its name from the track Baker made famous, and the artist acts as the label’s muse throughout most of the Spring/Summer 2013 pieces. “Dance,” “Chet Swing” and “Baker Boys” appear on button-downs, tees and jackets, while floral prints and bright spring shades like buttercup yellow, royal blue and bright orange add to the easy vibe this season. Elsewhere traditional American wardrobe staples like hoodies, parkas, blazers and chinos are all given the slight twist — cropped hems and slimmed-down silhouettes, for example — that the Japanese have made their signature. Look for BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS’ Spring/Summer 2013 collection to release at stockists in the coming weeks.
