Crass Mammoth - All 149
Celebrating the arrival of their self-titled debut full-length, Georgia rock trio Crass Mammoth
Celebrating the arrival of their self-titled debut full-length, Georgia rock trio Crass Mammoth present their brand new video for lead single “All 149” via HYPETRAK today. Thanks to their fairly distinct, somewhat nonchalant but convincing charme, the band follows up to their excellent Ef En Eu EP, which was released back in May, the band continues to infuse breath of fresh air to the rock genre, which seems to have lost direction in recent years. The accompanying black-and-white visual companion perfectly supports the pensive record with day-to-day impressions from the life in the South. Watch the clip above, read our conversation with the band below.
Introduce yourselves.
Joseph Crowe, Matthew Crowe, Trey Epperson. Crass Mammoth. What can you tell us about your background and start in music?
Matthew and I are brothers and once we started teaching ourselves to play we would throw things back and forth. It was the same thing with Trey when he started to come around. We each learned to play all the instruments we could. Our big idea was a revolving band where styles or genres were disregarded. A few years ago we settled into our positions. Well, to some degree. What was rock music lacking in 2013 and where are the chances for this traditional genre in 2014?
Rock lacked anyone giving a shit about the art in it. Not the bands not the record companies not the major press. A lot of mainstream artists claim they are rock or are somehow associated with the idea of rock, but they’re not it at all. Things come too easily and too quickly for them. Easy enough, I guess. Maybe my generation has too high a regard for apathy? If you wind back the clocks twelve months, how has life changed for you?
We come from a tiny town, its weird having people outside hearing let alone caring about our music. Still writing and playing, just more of it and further from home. What are your personal expectations and goals for 2014 — personally and as a band.
I’d like to get out all this music that we’ve been hoarding forever. Another record. Records. Get on the road. Change some minds. Crass Mammoth or personally, it’s all the same for us.
