Pharrell Williams and Daniel Arsham Breakdown the Casio MT-500 Volcanic Ash

As previewed over the summer, designer, producer and general polymath Pharrell Williams teamed up

As previewed over the summer, designer, producer and general polymath Pharrell Williams teamed up with artist Daniel Arsham to produce a new set of sculptures. The project centered around the Casio MT-500 – a relatively obscure keyboard instrument, but that which was formative in Pharrell’s legendary career. Accordingly, Arsham executed renditions of the MT-500 in his signature ‘decayed vintage’ aesthetic, unveiling the piece in New York. HYPEBEAST got the opportunity to sit with both artists for a profound discussion on the importance of the objects, the juxtaposition of ‘old’ and ‘new,’ Arsham’s creative process, and their relationship as a whole. Enjoy the above.
