Hot Pockets has done its best to make a resurgence over the past few years, shunning their prior image as heavily artificial, and perhaps overly cheesy. By some stroke of (hopefully intentional) irony, the brand has tapped Kate Upton and Snoop Dogg for a commercial that embodies those very characteristics. Imagine, if you will, the following: Kate Upton has a dream in which Snoop Dogg materializes from the TV following an interview with Larry King. The two break into a rap-song video that, were it not for contemporary graphics, could easily double as a Cocoa Puffs script. The song that Upton’s subconscious associates most closely with Hot Pockets is Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend,” which is thus transformed into a food-themed, Bow Wow-assisted jingle. Genius? Maybe, we’ll let you be the judge.
