Banksy’s “Better Out Than In” Hits New York’s Upper West Side
Making his mark in all five boroughs of New York as part of his “Better Out Than In” residency, Banksy presents a new piece for the city’s Upper West Side. While previous pieces call upon mixed-media executions, Banksy returns to stencil work for this latest piece. Providing social commentary via a stripped-back, monochromatic illustration, the piece shows a child dismantling a hydrant with the help of a sledgehammer. It’s not the first time the Bristolian artist enlists a child in his work. Earlier the year, Banksy portrayed a young child sewing Union Flag buntings in light of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee – a piece which was then removed from the side of a discount store in North London, only to reappear for sale in Fine Art Auctions Miami catalog. Keep your eyes peeled for more forthcoming work via Banksy’s webpage.
