Dressing nature-loving urbanites with clothing that is both technical in function and sophisticated in form, AETHER is also known for its imaginative retail spaces that includes a San Francisco location constructed from stacked shipping containers as well as a traveling store built inside of a vintage Airstream. Adding to the list, the clothier recently open AETHERnyc on Crosby Street in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. The 2,000 sq ft. space was designed by previous collaborator and Paris-based designer Thierry Gaugain of AETHERsf and AETHERstream. Its interior features a 16ft high wall constructed out of stacked logs, 34 custom-made wood crates all with white laminate insides and LED lights to display product, and a 14ft long metal riveted custom table that sits at the center of the store. AETHERnyc will carry product from both its men’s and women’s collections as well as an edited selection of third party items.
