Eiichiro Homma — co-founder and managing director of nanamica — first got his start in outdoor garments and he has since parlayed those 18 years of experience into the kind of technical yet classic garments we’ve come to expect from the Japanese atelier/label. Deceptively simple, the clothes displayed in the brand’s lookbook for Spring/Summer 2013 are classic nanamica — tailored and clean, yet constructed with the kind of advanced functional materials more commonly found in activewear. Titled “One Ocean, All Lands,” the label’s newest collection contains blue in almost all of its imaginable forms — indigo, teal and ultramarine just a few among them — with the oceanic shades grounded by beach hues of tan and grey. As expected, the outerwear is a highlight, with an array of technical blazers, lightweight parkas, and raincoats layered over equally functional wind shirts and appropriately cuffed pants. Look for nanamica’s 2013 collection to release at select stockists in the coming months.
