MIHARAYASUHIRO 2013 Fall/Winter Collection
In Paris, MIHARAYASUHIRO titled his presentation “Chinpira,” a term loosely translated from Japanese to mean “punk.” But it wasn’t the typical American or British punk designers like Marc Jacobs were referencing this season. For Fall/Winter 2013, there were skull-and-crossbones motifs, golden snakeskin suits and embroidery on sleeves that suggested Yakuza affiliations, and everything — from the dark color scheme to the steely glare of the models — had a slightly sinister edge to it. Still, with impeccable tailoring throughout, topcoats accented with fur or gold-embroidered scales and the technical mastery displayed on knit puffer vests, there was plenty for the law-abiding among us to admire.
