Director Brett Morgen Says Kurt Cobain Film "Will Be This Generation's 'The Wall'"

As previously reported, the man behind Rolling Stones‘ 50th anniversary documentary The Crossfire Hurricane aims to capsulize another one of music’s greatest in motion picture. Based on Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, filmmaker Brett Morgan aims to deliver a piece which he deems “this generation’s The Wall.” Morgan has been discussing with Cobain’s ex-spouse Courtney Love on this offering since 2007, suggesting that the pair had been “trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now.” Morgan also says that “Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life.” So far the film is untitled and will aim for a 2014 release. With a mix of animation and live action, the film aims to display Cobain in his primitive years, showcasing work and personal attributes from the late grunge legend.
