Whether it’s a crepe-sole wingtip or a moccasin-inspired slip-on shoe, Japanese footwear label TIMAI has always drawn from outside the box. The brand’s affinity for unorthodox materials across formal-inspired silhouettes have given it a certain popularity amongst some footwear pundits, as the shoes have been lauded for their unique appearance. In designer Takashi Imai’s vision for Fall/Winter 2013, black mid-top uppers are executed with fur, yet feature workwear-inspired lace loops; low-profile suede sneakers take cues from Gyoza dumplings and feature ‘pinched’ looks along the upper; and deep, rich tan, navy and white colors are the staple colors for the season. Enjoy a look at the TIMAI 2013 fall/winter collection, viewable above.
