American designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein continued their fascination with Keith Haring and the artist’s involvement in New York’s ’80s hip-hop scene with their latest collection. The duo had deejayed the opening of the Brooklyn Museum’s Keith Haring exhibition earlier this year, which likely sparked their interest in the artist and subsequent inspiration for the collection. Starting the show with crisp black and white looks reminiscent of Haring’s black and white figure images, the designers sought to capture the Neo-expressionist style of Haring’s works as they moved on to complete pairings of Haring-esque graffiti style prints on both shirts and pants. The hip-hop influence vis-à-vis Haring’s involvement was evident in the laid-back silhouette and athletic elements found in pieces such as the baseball jacket, track pants, densely knitted hoodies and color-blocked shorts – all of which make for some interesting casual sportswear additions to the closet.
