Coexist, the second album from London’s The xx is now available for streaming in its entirety – almost a full week ahead of its scheduled release date. In the wake of a critically and commercially acclaimed first album, the quartet straddles the tricky line between maintaining their signature sound and pushing boundaries, for the most part accomplishing what they set out to do. Fans of their self-titled debut will find plenty to love — dueling vocalists Romy Madley-Croft and Oliver Sim trade lines over bare-bones guitar for more of their recognizably airy, R&B-inflected pop. Meanwhile, surprising flourishes and unexpected turns also mark the band’s slow but steady evolution. The album is available for streaming below and pre-orders can be placed through iTunes or Amazon. Coexist will be released on September 11 on the XL Recordings label.
