Although it’s been a little over two years since we last covered a collection from Rochambeau, the brand’s latest Spring/Summer 2013 range gives us a comprehensive glimpse into what the designers have been up to for the past few years. With its name originally stemming from the synonym for the classic game of rock-paper-scissors, the label’s ethos of “risk taking” is drawn to an entirely new height as the collection takes shape with a plethora of offbeat trousers, elongated blazers with multiple layers, as well as an assortment of complementary shirting options. Blending a taste for the bold and aesthetically daring with rather unassuming and understated chromatic base colors, Rochambeau offer a careful balance of high-end avant-garde with the many similarities to classical menswear sensibilities. Inspired by dark folklore that surrounds water throughout history, the collection speaks volumes pointing to afterlife influences through dark and caliginous pieces who also inherited certain details from the southern region of Iceland and the volcanic ash-riden beaches of the coast.
