Joe Casely-Hayford for John Lewis 2012 Fall/Winter Collection

John Lewis unveils its sixth exclusive collection with contemporary menswear designer Joe Casely-Hayford. Drawing influences from counterculture of the 1950s such as early English rock ‘n’ roll, the Ace Café, and The 59 Club, the collection takes mid-20th century influences and translates them for a 21st century audience. The collection includes 33 pieces spanning outwear, knitwear, shirting and trousers – with dashes of autumnal colors present including bright pink and red melton. Prices range from £28 GBP (approximately $45 USD) for a pique crew neck T-shirt to £325 GBP (approximately $527 USD) for a long bezique twill black coat. Of the collection, Joe Casely-Hayford says, “For Fall/Winter 2012 I have created a lining for my outerwear pieces that uses intricate designs from salvaged tiles. Each tile presents a pictorial representation of English history to create a tableau of cultural, craft and aesthetic attributes of the past 150 years.”
