Issey Miyake recently tapped Tokyo-based design firm Drawing and Manual to develop a window installation for the fashion house’s Ginza flagship store. Faced with the task of converting digital designs into a physical installation, the firm developed a Rolodex-type display composed of individually cut cards that, when put together, form different composite images. A decidedly low-tech installation, the project goes to show that the old adage “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” still holds weight.
