Yamaha surely knows the old adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and that’s exactly what the venerable Japanese company has done with the most recent YZF-R1 motorcycle. Opting not to mess with a good thing, the company decided to add new exterior paint options as the only alteration from last year’s model. Now available in Matte Gray, Rapid Red, and Raven paint schemes in addition to the Team Yamaha Blue and White, the 2013 model is identical in every other aspect to the outgoing model. Still the most advanced open-class sport bike on the planet, it features a 998cc, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine matched to a 6 speed transmission. Starting at $14,290 USD, the new R1 will be making its way to showrooms this month.
