With a history of having some of the world’s most distinguished tanneries, Mexico is home to some extremely skilled and experienced shoe and bootmakers. Having access to quality leather is a must when it comes to making durable footwear and this is one aspect that UNMARKED has not overlooked — craftsmanship is truly reflected in its 2013 spring/summer collection. Adding a technical aspect to its boots, UNMARKED’s worked closely with a local tannery to develop advancements such as waterproof suede, as well as improvements on the durability of the soles. Each shoe and boot is made by hand to insure no details are missed – from the complete interior leather lining, the Goodyear-welted soles, down to the vegetable-tanned leather. The collection also showcases a number of unique outsoles including Vibram, Bilbo, plantation crepe rubber, along with a newly developed expanded rubber compound sole. As for availability, this serves only as a teaser as the collection is not due to hit stockists until early next year.
