Following a recent collaboration with Louis Vuitton and an exhibition at London’s Tate Modern, renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama presents a retrospective of her avant-garde work at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art. Featuring the artist’s signature polka dot and net-patterned pieces, the exhibition also includes large-scale outdoor installations while Kusama’s famous Fireflies on the Water (2002) is the centerpiece of the display. Also, to coincide with the retrospective and to celebrate the launch of the collaborative line, Louis Vuitton’s Fifth Avenue and SoHo stores have been specially decorated for the occasion. Having opened on July 12, the Yayoi Kusama retrospective is set to remain open through September 30.
