With a rich heritage celebrating the spirit of the great American outdoors, it is no surprise that the Woolrich John Rich & Bros. 2013 spring/summer collection comes inspired by these two groups of retro adventurers: The New Journalists and Stone Masters. Referring to the mountain climbers of the ’60s and ’80s, “Stone Masters” uses denim and durable cotton with modern tech fabrics like Ramar cloth, poly cotton and Cordura nylon to recreate the feel of homemade mountain climbing equipment. We like the tailored mountain suits in navy blue and yellow, the Woolrich Mountain Parka, and Mountain Jacket resulting from a collaboration with Japanese label nanamica. The New Journalists pays ode to journalists and war correspondents in the late ’60s like Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Wolfe, Oriana Fallacia and Joan Didion, combining military utility with local clothing from the regions where they reported. Watch out for an ergonomic three-layer Hiking Blazer designed by TOKITO’s Tokihito Yoshida and a limited edition Woolrich x Deus ex Machina T-shirt capsule collaboration designed by the Australian custom motorcycle and surf brand.
