Converting BMX Bikes Into DJ Mixers – Turntable Rider by COGOO

Flatland BMX is enjoying huge popularity in Japan, with events drawing large crowds and well-known riders alike, as well as talented DJs to soundtrack the events. But why not make the riders DJs themselves? Taking a break from their Tokyo citywide bike-sharing service, the designers at COGOO created this unique one-off turntable-equipped bike, that allows the rider to wirelessly control the bike’s sound systems through trick input. The bike’s wheels are used as a jog dial, brake levers are sound pads, and a crossfader sits at the center of the handlebars. All of the sounds were provided by DJ BAKU. In this video, watch as pro flatland BMX rider Kotaro Tanaka is first up to throw down a mix on COGOO’s creation before passing the shared bike off. And when you’re done watching, check out a video on the making of the project here. The kit in the video is currently the only one in existence, though COGOO is considering a mass production run, if they receive enough likes on this page. If you’re looking to retrofit your BMX bike and moonlight as a flatland DJ, you’d better get moving.
