There is no doubt that Damon Albarn is taking it easy these days. The famed English musician has been busy in the studio with the likes of Bobby Womack, Dr. Dee, and Rocket Juice & the Moon during the past few months. However, it seems that he won’t be working on his two most known bands, Blur and Gorillaz, anymore. In a conversation with The Guardian, Albarn said that he believes Blur’s summer gig in London’s Hyde Park will be the band’s last. When asked about the reason for this he said:

“I find it very easy to record with Graham [Coxon]. He’s a daily musician. With the other two, , Alex James and Dave Rowntree. it’s harder for them to reconnect. You know what I mean? It’s fine when we play live – it’s really magical still – but actually recording new stuff, and swapping musical influences… it’s quite difficult.”

It is also very likely that there won’t be any new music from the Gorillaz neither, due to creative differences regarding the Plastic Beach tour between him and co-creator Jamie Hewlett, who decided to end the band:

“Jamie thinks the band is done, which is fair enough. I think we were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied…It was one of those things,” Albarn says. “The music and the videos weren’t working as well together, but I felt we’d made a really good record, and I was into it. So we went and played it.”

Gorillaz’s “DoYaThing,” the Converse song featuring James Murphy and Andre 3000, was released in February.
