The venerable G-Shock watch is no stranger to co-op branding and limited edition colorways. However, Casio’s latest partnership with Nick Clements of modernist fashion magazine Men’s File for a vintage re-imagination of the aviation series GW-3000BB is a game-changing collaboration hewn from a wildly refreshing new mold. Clements is an English fashion photographer, motorcycle aficionado, and an arbiter of reintroducing vintage styles from the 1950s and 1960s. The G-Shock GW-3000BB Leatherback is a timepiece inspired partially by 500cc Triumphs, bomber jackets, and the rolling English countryside. More specifically, the timepiece gives nod to very early aviation instruments used high above the battlefields over Europe. Granted, the shock-resistant resin casing still houses the modern solar-powered analog movement G-Shock is best known for, but the strap and the casing’s protective snap cover are made of full-grain leather. The leather strap is also slightly longer than a standard wrist strap, for a proper fit over a bomber jacket or flight suit. Release date, pricing and production numbers have yet to be announced, but you can expect this undoubtably extremely limited collaboration to release exclusively through The Hip Store.
