Marking a substantial shift for the iconic American heritage label, Filson recently made the announcement that it would be calling upon the vision of designer Richard Chai as its Creative Director. Based in Seattle, the label has built its nearly 115-year long history by outfitting the likes of outdoorsmen, fishermen, hunters and explorers. Although its history is filled with naturally appealing tenants to any heritage label enthusiast, Filson will be tapping the American designer to not only expand its existing customer base but also broaden the brand’s reach to a younger, more fashion-conscious consumer.
The promising association will kick off its inaugural collection with Chai’s showcasing his first designs on February 9, for New York Fashion Week 2012. Chai’s initial work will be seen across the Filson Rugged Casual Apparel line, which will see a significant expansion for Fall/Winter 2012.
