Launched in 2004, head designer Scott Sternberg built Band of Outsiders around the precise hand-sewn tailoring, and re-imagined boyish charm of vintage fashion. For the label’s Fall/Winter 2012, Sternberg heads West — the Wild West, to be exact – offering his signature tailored jackets, sweaters and pullovers with sueded, desert color hues, and Oaxacan-inspired embroidery. For the women’s line, the line retains the Western themes with pieces like a navy alpaca coat, but still dials back some of the usual androgyny in favor of more retro floral prints, suspender-banded halter bodices, and even a number of vintage-glam evening gowns — a definite first for the brand.
