Shot by Luke Clay Thompson, Lee Roach‘s “SS13″ film was part of an off-schedule project from the designer showcased yesterday at the Hannah Barry Gallery in London. As an exercise in “reduction and repetition,” the installation displayed Roach’s joint efforts with both Nike and Nasir Mazhar and was an ode to 21st century minimalism. Roach commissioned a capsule of six pairs of Nike’s LunarGlide+ 3 trainers as one part of the exhibition, deconstructing them in various stages, while “SS13″ is a four-minute film first conceived at the designer’s Spring/Summer 2013 runway show. Full of freeze frames and slow motion sequences, the short feature masterfully juxtaposes Roach’s stark, monochromatic garments against the background of an ornate Victorian salon. Watch the video above and stay tuned for more from this promising young designer.
