Scottish football club Glasgow Celtic’s victory over FC Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this month has prompted U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg to express his interest in investing in the club.
Neil Lennon’s side wrote themselves into the history books a fortnight ago after they beat the Catalan side 2-1 at Parkhead having enjoyed just 16% of possession.
Having stunned the world of football and stolen the headlines the following day, it seems Celtic’s success has not gone unnoticed stateside and Snoop Dogg is eager to get himself on the board and said he would do all he can to enlist his friend David Beckham with the club.
“I didn’t catch the whole Barcelona game but I watched the highlights. Barcelona are a big deal, and it shows Celtic are a big deal as well,” he told the Daily Record.
“I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell. I asked my man David [Beckham] about Celtic and he was like, ‘Yeah, teams don’t come much bigger.’ I would try and sign him up for a season but he is pretty happy over here. Never say never.”
Snoop Dogg was first linked with Celtic in 2005 when he was pictured in a Celtic jersey on the Scotland leg of his European tour.
