After a year of close collaboration with New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, Nike launches the Nike Zoom Revis, a training shoe designed for game day preparation and speed. Designed for all types of weather and multiple surface types, the shoe features “adaptive traction” and draws inspiration for much of its design from the bridges of New York City itself. With respect to the outsole, the pattern was borrowed from the rivets used in bridge construction while the Volt-yellow color reflects the bright lights featured heavily on the city’s bridges.
Adding to the performance side of the shoe is Nike Flywire technology and the midfoot strap, incorporated to provide support for lateral movement and extreme cuts, and affords the athlete more explosiveness on each step. In addition, the upper features mesh underlays and an internal boot for comfort and breathability, while the TPU heel clip locks the heel into place.
Aside from function, the shoe is instantly recognizable as being inspired by Revis, featuring the familiar kelly green and white colors of the Jets, his number 24 appearing in various parts of the shoe including in the form of roman numerals on the Flywire system, the word ‘FAMILY’ embroidered on the inside of the tongue, and last but not least, Revis’ favorite quote on the inside of the midfoot strap: “The only way to handle pressure…is to apply it!” Look for the Nike Zoom Revis to hit select Nike stockists soon.
