Mercedes-Benz Unveils the 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series

In preparation for the car’s official debut at the 2012 LA Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled preliminary photos and specs for the forthcoming 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series. Inspired by its GT3 racecar – with elements like a front chin spoiler, forged alloy wheels, rear diffuser, and the vented side skirts and rear fascia – the SLS AMG Black Series has dropped a total of 154 pounds compared to the SLS AMG GT. In terms of raw power, they’ve managed an extra 39 horsepower from the 6.2-liter V8 raising the output to 622 hp – with zero to 60 miles per hour acceleration capabilities at 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph. Other key details include revised AMG speed-sensitive power steering, electronically-controlled rear axle differential lock, modified SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission and titanium exhaust system. The Mercedes-Benz 2014MY SLS AMG Black Series is expected to be available for retail in the summer.
