Established in 1986, Brazilian label Colcci creates high-end, street-wise garments that deftly blend elements of high fashion and urban culture, along with influences from Mexican folk art, religious and historic images, and literature. For Fall/Winter 2013, the label drew from military design for its São Paulo Fashion Week show – a collection of timely, mixed-media garments in contemporary cuts. Leather and wool featured heavily in the seasonal offerings — often melded together as has been popular of late — while colorblocking, patterns and quilting added graphic punches. In an array of biker jackets, long coats and vests in burgundy and olive drab, Colcci showed the kind of street-awareness and forward-thinking that should win the Brazilian label greater recognition in upcoming seasons.
