Regularly lending his talents to the likes of Nike, Qantas, Ford and more, Marc Newson is considered to be one of the most innovative and accomplished industrial designers in the world, garnering recognition for his work through accolades that include his appointment as a “Royal Designer for Industry” and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. With works housed in the likes of the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art, Crane.tv recently caught up with the prolific originator at his personal workspace. Reflecting on his start in the industry, Newson touches on the evolution of technology, the influence of family life on his work, and the fact that although current technologies transcend boundaries, the pace of progression has not been as optimistic as he would have imagined when he began his career.
