While various elements of the fishing culture have been heavily relied upon by the likes of heritage brands like Filson and also tapped by street label projects involving brands like Stussy and Tilt or A Bathing Ape and Daiwa, the application within the realm of footwear has been fairly lacking. And yet, given the influx of all-over-prints over the last year, it seems that it was only a matter of time until fishing inspirations were paralleled into the world of sneakers in the same way as things like patterned paisley, woodland camouflage and animal prints have. For Fall/Winter 2012, Vans OTW is debuting a special range that appropriately carries the term, the “Trout” pack. Pictured here, two of the Vans OTW silhouettes — the Woessner and Coburn 2 — are the subject of the reinterpretation as the duo are enveloped in a mixture of canvas, cotton and leather “Trout” printing. Blending often synonymous elements of outdoorsmen and otherwise Americana garb, the Trout pack will begin hitting select Vans OTW stockists beginning in October.
