“Inertia,” Hussein Chalayan‘s previous Spring/Summer 2009 collection, provided the reference point for the Urban Swift, his collaborative footwear effort with PUMA. In that collection, Chalayan used moulded latex dresses that looked to be frozen in motion, a commentary on “the speed of our lives and how it can only result in a crash.” The designer, ever engaged in deeper thought and symbolism, used that notion for the PUMA by Hussein Chalayan Urban Swift, which features a sculpted back panel and mimics motion even with its wearer at a complete standstill. In perhaps its last season, the previously-released avant-garde sneaker is now available in bright citron and gray through PUMA Black Label retailers worldwide.
