J.Crew 2013 Spring/Summer Collection

J.Crew‘s 2013 spring/summer presentation sees Men’s Design Director Frank Muytjens stay true to the brand’s strong heritage by combining clean design elements with more rugged touches. The designer, inspired by the color-block paintings of Ellsworth Kelly this time around, created a collection that demonstrated the design ethos in outfits such as a navy tuxedo jacket paired with a selvedge denim work shirt and chambray shorts. Kelly’s inspiration was evident in the worn-in barn jackets and in the color-blocked sweaters and polo shirts, which featured a juxtaposition of vivid hues as well as more subtle monochromatic two-tones. Fans of J.Crew’s accessible street-ready aesthetic will be pleased to see signature staples such as the popular Ludlow suit – now featured in a new lightweight Italian chino done in chambray and overdyed navy seersucker – and slim rolled-up jeans return in a manner that is both au courant with the trends and immediately wearable.
