Fred Perry Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary in London with British Legend Don Letts
For the past 60 years, Fred Perry has cemented itself as much more than just an iconic polo shirt.
For the past 60 years, Fred Perry has cemented itself as much more than just an iconic polo shirt. The quintessentially British brand has become an integral part of Britain’s subcultural fabric, associating itself heavily with some of the world’s most creative movements. In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the brand sought out legendary British DJ, director (including the 1978 cult classic Punk Rock Movie) and music pioneer Don Letts to help pay homage to this historic event through a series of films. Six 15-minute short films focus on a particular decade starting in the ’50s and leading up to the present day. To support the project are two fashion-based initiatives including the ‘52 12’ product range which is a tribute to the original Fred Perry shirt from 1952 and the 60 Year customized shirt project. The customized shirt project provided a blank polo canvas to 60 of the brand’s most loyal and distinguished fans including designers, musicians and sports personalities to create their own message. The entire project will find a home here, a unique microsite dedicated to Fred Perry’s 60th anniversary.
