UNUSED 2012 Fall/Winter Collection

Hailing from Japan, UNUSED takes menswear’s classic frames of reference, removes and dismantles them in the quest for new style. Its inspirations are extracted from numerous sources — the act of daily living chief amongst them — and merges an ever-changing well of ideas with the core aims of functional beauty, pleasure and comfort. For its Fall/Winter 2012 collection, the label toyed with proportions, colors and fabrics in multi-layered looks that had the comfort of pajamas. Loose, striped pants were juxtaposed with high-waisted, cropped trousers in solid colors while oversized knits, a supple leather pullover, and red motorcycle jacket provided textural variety. With pops of bubblegum pink, mustard, and burgundy woven in amongst the more neutrally-shaded denim and tailored looks in the collection, there were twists and turns for the eye at every corner.
