Created by designer Issey Miyake for Italian lighting firm Artemide, these elaborate “in-ei” lampshades made a splash during their debut at the 2012 Milan Design Week. The lampshades are constructed with a fibrous fabric derived from recycled plastic bottles, repeatedly folded into unique geometric shapes which were developed using two- and three-dimensional mathematical principals to define each pattern’s respective shape and degree of shade. The in-ei Lampshades strike an expert balance of origami-inspired interior design.
