Adam Yauch, known by his emcee moniker MCA and member of storied hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys, has passed away tragically at the age of 47, after a three-year battle with cancer. Known not only for his incredible work as a musician, Yauch directed many of the Beastie Boys’ music videos under the pseudonym Nathaniel Hornblower, as well as for his video collective Oscilloscope Pictures – which had notable releases that included Gunnin’ for that #1 Spot, Wendy and Lucy, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and the forthcoming LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits. The world has lost truly a special individual.
