Sport has often had the uncanny ability to bring together people through adversity and trying times. A new documentary titled Street Soccer: New York, is in its Kickstarter stages as it follows a New York team of homeless in their preparation for the 2009 Street Soccer USA Cup. For the group, winning or losing on the field becomes secondary to everyday survival, yet a remarkable group find themselves united for causes both on and off the pitch. While the likes of finding the next Bébé – Manchester United’s on-loan and former homeless striker – are unlikely the inspiration still remains. The documentary is currently accepting donations here.
