The rumor mill on Apple’s MacBook Pro Summer 2012 update is coming to life, and it’s none other than Intel who is doing the stirring. The chip manufacturers appear to be setting up delivery of their Ivy Bridge quad-core processors (specifically, the Core i7) by late April, and are expected to be in the Apple machines shortly thereafter — just in time for a formal announcement at Apple’s yearly WWDC event in June. If true, this MacBook revision would be a historical one, seeing Apple drop the optical disk drive altogether in favor of digital data delivered via USB.
