Vennesla Library & Cultural Center

Tying a community house and a learning center together, the new library in Vennesla, Norway holds a cafe, library and meeting places. The structure is held up by 26 ribs which span the length of the building creating pockets against the wall for books, seating and storage. Between each rib is a window covered by slats which control the amount of daylight let into the structure. The existing walls of the standing structures were implemented into the library to cut energy needs, and all new additions to the space have been outfitted with high standard energy solutions.
