Jacket Required: Billionaire Boys Club 2012 Spring/Summer Preview

February 21, 2012Styleby Rolly Ibanez7560 Views

We caught up with Harley, the sales director for London-based distribution company A Number of Names during the recent Jacket Required London trade show to supply us some information regarding the upcoming lineup from Billionaire Boys Club. Featuring an extensive range of apparel and accessories, the range begins with outerwear before moving into fitted caps and T-shirts. BBC also seized the opportunity to promote its comprehensive capsule range with American designer Mark McNairy who infused his design sensibilities of classic Americana and military references into some marquee pieces. As always, the collection is in no short supply of colors, textures and patterns as applied on numerous reworked classic jackets, reinterpreted pullovers and shirts.

Big sean, T.i., the whole odd future gang etc. still rep the brand but yeah you’re right in that the quality will inevitably deteriorate due to price cuts. Although I still think the made in japan stuff from before will always look dope. I agree with you on bape quality but have to disagree on the actual product, it just lacks imagination now and hasn’t really developed that much since it become so mainstream.

The new line is looking very modern. I have been wearing BBC for a while now, and the new designs are really fresh allowing more of a range in my daily style

    have fun on Karmaloop.

Japan has a number of factories in China. They even have foreigners work in their factories in Japan.

Also, recent studies show that China has some of the most advanced manufacturing facilities currently on the planet.

BBC is at the DTLR in Richmond. P sold out smh.

Other than the Bee line, the normal BBC line is made in USA, Honduras, Peru or CHINA. Personally I agree BBC is no longer the brand it used to be, as seperating the cheaper mainline from the more expensive japanese made Bee line brings the whole cache of the brand down.

and to Lion1886, It’s not just the expense in Japan but the Japanese like the Germans take pride in what they make and is always of high quality (just take a look at their cars). Go ahead and support our biggest debt holder and continue buying Chinese made goods, I for one can afford to buy my clothing based on my morals and support for the US and fair trade worker.

I have purchased items from BBC in the past.  I have two made in Japan BBC logos and one Made in the US BBC Logo.  Completely different in terms of quality.  The made in Japan tee’s are definitely better than the made in US.

  • UNAPOLOGETIC PREP

I still purchase Bape because the quality is still top, plus they still design pretty solid product. I stopped wearing BBC in 2007, I very recently went into their flagship store to find out the price has reduced (Like you said by 40%) I also noticed the quality and design has gone to complete shit now that it is made in the US. My prediction is BBC will either go to the masses or the brand will die out, because who do you really see wearing it still apart from Pharrell anyway?

  • lion1886

Smart move Pharrell!! That was most of the reasoning why sales where not as you wanted. Actually looking good. Its better when you do the grown man look instead of the childish cartoon figures etc.

  • lion1886

Are you serious!? As if being made in Japan has anything to do with it…EVERYTHING in Japan is expensive so it only makes sense that producing garments there would be expensive as well but its all the same production my friend, same machines, just higher paid employees. You act like its harming a company to lower there production costs….JUST CAUSE SOMETHING IS EXPENSIVE DOESNT MEAN ITS HIGHER QUALITY ALL THE TIME.

  • RockHardArbz

I think that 40% reduction in price will really kill the brand.

A full price bbc t shirt in the uk will retail at around £80 so selling them roughly around £50 will send it to the masses and cause the brand to lose that air of exclusivity (I picked on the t shirts because those are the type of items that will be picked up on first) not to mention bbc sold in the uk really drop in price during sales.

I love the brand but I’ve gotta say I can see it going bape

Those jackets looks great. Right now I want to look to some real spring summer items and not to a hardgoods. Perfect, my Made In Japan items is going to be vintage as fuck.

  • cam709

the price was keeping me from bbc for a long time. the collection looks great and i can appreciate american made items. get our economy on the right track (grown man voice)

Do you watch that video and thought it’s looks cheap and ugly? Oh my fucking God… The Made In  The USA will work.

    NICE STORY.

  • BlindingLights

I saw some of the newer BBC t-shirts on their newsletter a couple of months ago.

Cheaper, uglier and not made in Japan. Goodbye BBC.

  • Tok_Tok

Interested to see what McNairy can make of BBC.

  • seemeonmars

That’s some good news 40% reduction in price. Wonder how many people will start wearing this now.
